GEG in the News Again

GEG in the News Again

GEG are in the headlines again! 'Experts to Test Home Sites for Chemicals' ran the headline of the distinguished Crediton Gazette on 7th August 2008. This relates to GEG's site investigation works for Mid Devon District Council (MDDC) who have identified a residential estate in Yeoford, Devon which is potentially at risk from various underlying contaminants derived from the lands former use as a timber treatment works. MDDC are required to identify sites in their area which potentially pose a risk to human health, under their statutory remit as empowered by the  Environmental Protection Act 1990 Part 2A. GEG are undertaking a Phase II site investigation of the estate incorporating window sampler boreholes and hand dug trial pits to determine the extent and type of contaminants impacting the underlying shallow strata and groundwater. As the newspaper put it 'The council employed specialist consultants GEG Ltd, of Worcestershire, to conduct the initial survey, and they took a range of samples, some from boreholes, some from soil samples at different depths to get a better understanding of the site'.
